The original Daterra Farms was established in 1960 on Fintches Corners Road in Red Creek, NY. Owned and operated for years by Carl and Ella Marie Dates it was a dairy farm supplying milk to central New York and the surrounding community.

Now, in an entirely new agricultural enterprise, Daterra Farms is a restoration agriculture project consisting of agro-forestry, forest farming and perennial food crops.  Owned and operated by father and son Brad and CJ Dates to provide sustainably produced woodcraft, locally grown food and plentiful native tree crops.

We honor our history and the health of the land by standing in the stream of spiritual and farming tradition in care for self, family, community and the earth.

Environmentalists have been sounding the alarm for years on the climate effects of deforestation. One solution is small scale, low impact farming operations in every corner of the country committing to protecting natural resources and using what is locally supplied. Instead of using commercially harvested wood from faraway forests, we use what we can harvest carefully from the land, move with our own bodies, and craft with our own hands with minimal impact on the earth.
